IndigiLez Women’s Leadership and Support Group

IndigiLez Leadership and Support Group formed in 2008 and has since become one of Queensland’s prominent social support group for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lesbians and same sex attracted women. Founders Rebecca Johnson and Tanya Quakawoot have implemented and developed culturally safe programs for the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

Our Yarns Heal suicide prevention program aims to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of our rainbow mob.

Participants learn vital skills that are taught using a culturally safe approach. This method has proven to work for majority of our participants. The Cultural Healing Retreats are an initiative of IndigiLez along with culturally connected social and emotional wellbeing activities that build resilience and strengths in our communities.
